Sofia – the capital of Bulgaria
Sofia is the biggest city and the capital of Bulgaria. Situated among mountain ridges to the north and the Vitosha Mountains to the south, Sofia stands has unique positioning in western Bulgaria. It claims to be one of the few European capitals with beautiful scenery.
Tourists coming to Sofia will fall in love with its little streets and diversity of buildings mix of communistic influence and really beautiful Russian and Viennese architectural pearls next to neo-Byzantine Orthodox churches, one functioning mosque and a synagogue.
Just like all Europeans living in the South Europe locals meet for coffee at open-air cafés in the park and the capitol may boast with many cozy places, most of which with wireless Internet. Many open bazaars offer local fruits and vegetables and farm products, and new designer boutiques keep springing up in the city centre and the malls – the new fad of the capital.
